There’s something about Thailand that gets under your skin in the very best way. Maybe it’s the golden temples and fragrant street food, the warmth of the people, or the wonderful contrast between Bangkok’s exhilarating energy and Chiang Mai’s slower rhythm. On this journey, we get to experience all of it.
We’ll cruise Bangkok’s canals, explore colorful floating markets, stand before the magnificent Reclining Buddha at Wat Pho, and witness monks gathering for evening chants. Then we’ll travel north to ancient Sukhothai, where centuries-old temples rise among lotus ponds and quiet gardens.
And our timing couldn’t be better. We’ll be in Thailand for Songkran, the country’s legendary New Year celebration! We’ll begin with the quieter traditions of temple blessings before joining the laughter, music, and wonderfully joyful water-filled celebration happening all around us.
In Chiang Mai, we’ll slow things down with a traditional Thai spa experience, wander night markets, cook (and eat!) our way through a hands-on Thai cooking class, and spend an unforgettable day at Elephant Nature Park, where rescued elephants are given the freedom to simply be elephants.
There’s also plenty of breathing room built in, because we believe the best journeys give you time to make your own discoveries too.
And if you’re not quite ready to leave Thailand? Add our optional 3-night Koh Samui extension for long-tail boats, snorkeling, turquoise water, sandy beaches, and a few glorious days of island life.
This is Thailand with all the good stuff: culture, connection, adventure, incredible food, and plenty of pure joy.

Activity Level is: MODERATE. This tour is designed for travelers who enjoy being out exploring but don't need every day packed from sunrise to sunset. Expect regular walking through temples, markets, historic sites, and city streets, sometimes over uneven surfaces and in Thailand's warm April weather. You should be comfortable spending several hours on your feet, getting in and out of vans and boats, and enjoying a few full days of exploration.
There is also plenty of balance built in, including a spa experience, free afternoons, and optional activities, so you'll have opportunities to slow down and recharge.
This tour is a great fit if you love a little bit of everything: history and modern city life, incredible food, meaningful cultural experiences, nature, and plenty of fun. You'll enjoy this journey most if you're curious, flexible, comfortable with warm weather, and excited to experience Thailand rather than simply see it. Come ready to try new foods, get soaked during Songkran, wander ancient temples, laugh with new friends, and occasionally embrace a little wonderful travel chaos. We balance full days with downtime, giving you both shared experiences and space to explore on your own.
At The Nomadic Network, we believe group travel should give you the best of both worlds: a wonderful group of people to share the experience with, and the freedom to still travel like yourself.
Our small-group tours are designed for curious travelers who enjoy experiencing a destination together, sharing meals and adventures, and getting to know the people they're traveling with. But you don't have to do everything together. There’s always room to recharge, wander on your own when time allows, or simply enjoy a little space. No forced fun here.
We travel thoughtfully and with curiosity, taking time to learn about the places we visit, support local communities and businesses, try the food, understand the history, and experience more than just the major sights.
Our hope is pretty simple: that you come home having experienced an incredible part of the world, learned a few things, laughed a lot, and maybe even made some wonderful new friends along the way.

Welcome to Thailand!
We’ll meet in Bangkok, settle into our comfy hotel, and start getting to know each other. Arriving early? Your tour leader will be around with tips and ideas if you’re up for exploring. That night, we’ll dive into our first Thai meal together—spicy, flavorful, and unforgettable. It’s the perfect start to this epic journey!

Today we’ll explore Bangkok from a different angle—by boat. Cruising along the Chao Phraya River and its winding canals, we’ll pass traditional stilt houses, spirit shrines, and scenes of everyday life that feel worlds away from the city's urban rush.
Then we head to Wat Pho, one of Thailand’s most sacred sites, to marvel at the 150-foot-long golden Reclining Buddha. After wandering the temple’s courtyards and intricate halls, we’ll quietly witness the monks’ evening chanting—a powerful, meditative moment that few travelers get to experience.
As twilight settles over the city, we’ll cross the river for a special dinner overlooking the illuminated spires of Wat Arun. With its porcelain tiles catching the last rays of daylight, it’s a breathtaking view—and the perfect end to a day steeped in tradition, tranquility, and awe.
Meals: B, D
Today we’re diving into one of Thailand’s most iconic traditions—the floating market! Picture wooden canoes gliding through narrow canals, piled high with mangoes, coconuts, and sizzling snacks fresh off the grill. These markets have been central to Thai life for generations, and you’ll experience the sights, sounds, and flavors firsthand as we snack our way through lunch right on the water.
After our market adventure, we’ll head back to Bangkok for a free afternoon to do your own thing. Craving a little calm? Wander the tree-lined paths of Lumphini Park. Want a taste of the city’s sleek side? Check out a mega-mall (hello, air conditioning and interesting foods). Or just explore a new neighborhood, grab a local coffee, and people-watch from a shady spot.
Once the sun goes down, we’ll crank up the fun with a dazzling drag show—think over-the-top costumes, catchy tunes, cheeky humor, and seriously good vibes. It's a crowd favorite for a reason!
If you're still going strong, join us after for optional rooftop drinks with sweeping views of the Bangkok skyline. It’s the kind of night you’ll be talking about long after the tour’s over.
Meals: B, L, D
This morning, we’ll catch a short flight to Sukhothai, Thailand’s very first capital and the birthplace of Thai language, art, and architecture. This ancient city holds a special place in the country’s heart, and once we arrive, you’ll see why. After we check into our peaceful hotel, we’ll head out to explore the incredible Sukhothai Historical Park—a UNESCO World Heritage Site that feels like stepping into a living museum.
Set among quiet gardens, lotus ponds, and peaceful tree-lined paths, the park is home to the beautifully preserved remains of temples, shrines, and city walls from the 13th and 14th centuries. As we stroll through the grounds, we’ll visit highlights like Wat Mahathat, where stone pillars lead to a massive seated Buddha, and Wat Si Chum, where a 49-foot-tall Buddha peers out from within a narrow stone chamber—majestic and humbling all at once. It’s a place that invites reflection, wonder, and a deep connection to Thailand’s roots. Afterward, we’ll return to our hotel for a relaxed evening and dinner under the stars.
Meals: B, D
Today’s all about diving headfirst into the wild, wonderful chaos of Songkran—the legendary Thai New Year water festival!
We’ll start with a peaceful morning at a local temple, soaking in the calming alms offerings and water blessings where fragrant water is gently poured over Buddha statues, washing away the old and inviting fresh good vibes. It’s a beautiful, heartfelt tradition that sets the perfect tone before the real splash zone opens up.
As the sun climbs, the streets explode with laughter, music, and, yes, water flying everywhere! Buckets, hoses, water guns- you name it, locals young and old are drenching each other in good-natured fun. You can jump right into the madness with the group or roam freely to explore the celebration your own way. Either way, you’re in for a day filled with smiles, surprises, and soaked-to-the-bone memories you won’t forget.
Get ready to laugh, splash, and maybe get a little wild—because Songkran is hands-down one of the most exhilarating, joyful parties on the planet!

After breakfast, we’ll embark on a stunning 6.5-hour journey north to Chiang Mai, winding through lush countryside, rolling hills, and quaint villages that showcase the heart of rural Thailand. Along the way, we’ll pause at a charming local spot for lunch and to stretch our legs, giving you a chance to soak in the peaceful scenery and breathe in the fresh mountain air.
When we arrive, we’ll settle into our hotel nestled in Chiang Mai’s historic old town—a labyrinth of narrow lanes, ancient temples, and vibrant markets just waiting to be discovered. As evening falls, we’ll dive into the electric energy of one of Chiang Mai’s bustling night markets, where we’ll savor a variety of Northern Thai dishes bursting with bold, unforgettable flavors. This day is all about the journey and the rich cultural tapestry awaiting us at every turn.
Meals: B, L, D
This morning, we’ll trade temples and tuk-tuks for tranquility as we head into the lush Chiang Mai countryside for a traditional Thai spa experience.
Nestled in a peaceful natural setting, surrounded by soft mountain breezes and birdsong, you’ll get to indulge in treatments rooted in centuries-old local wellness practices. Think herbal compresses, aromatherapy oils, and gentle Thai massage techniques that leave you feeling completely refreshed and rebalanced. This region is known for its holistic approach to health, and today is your chance to slow down and soak it in.
Afterwards, we’ll head back to Chiang Mai with the afternoon free for you to enjoy at your own pace. Take a nap, grab a smoothie at a local café, wander the quiet backstreets in search of a hidden temple—or all of the above. It’s your time to explore, rest, or just do whatever feels good.
In the evening, we’ll regroup at a small, family-run cooking school tucked away just outside the city. Under the guidance of our warm and welcoming hosts, we’ll learn to prepare classic Thai dishes like Pad Thai, spicy and aromatic Tom Yum soup, and sweet Mango Sticky Rice. You'll get hands-on with fresh ingredients, laugh over your wok technique, and finish the night sharing a home-cooked feast together. It’s the kind of experience that not only fills your belly—but your heart, too.
Meals: B, D
Today is something truly special! We’ll rise early and head into the forested hills outside Chiang Mai for a full-day visit to Elephant Nature Park, a renowned sanctuary dedicated to the ethical care and rehabilitation of rescued elephants. These gentle giants, many of whom have been saved from years of hard labor or neglect, now live in peace and dignity thanks to the incredible work of this grassroots conservation project.
Our day begins with an introduction to the sanctuary’s mission and the powerful shift it's helping to create in elephant tourism. Then, we’ll get hands-on: preparing banana rice balls and other healthy snacks before feeding the elephants in designated areas. After that, we’ll walk alongside them (no rides here!) through the forest, observing them as they forage, graze, and just be elephants—rubbing against trees, pulling down bamboo, and snacking on whatever they find. Down by the river, we’ll watch them splash, swim, and play from a respectful distance—free to enjoy life on their terms.
After a delicious vegetarian buffet lunch, we’ll spend time learning about the individual stories of the sanctuary’s herds, watching them from shaded viewing platforms. It’s a powerful, heart-expanding day that will stay with you long after we return to Chiang Mai in the late afternoon.
Meals: B, L
Our final day is a chance to fully soak in the magic of Chiang Mai—a place that travelers dream of visiting, and once they do, never forget. This city is the perfect blend of ancient charm and laid-back beauty. It’s known for its welcoming energy that just makes you want to stay, and today you’ll have the freedom to explore at your own rhythm.
Want to get out into nature? Join our optional morning hike in Doi Inthanon National Park, where cooler mountain air, orchids, and forested trails lead to peaceful waterfalls.
Prefer to stay in town? Spend your day exploring the Old City’s quiet corners, sipping coffee at a leafy café, getting that one last Thai massage, or visiting a few final temples that caught your eye.
And of course, we’re here to help with ideas, directions, or arranging anything you need to make the most of your day.
In the evening, we’ll come together one last time for a celebratory farewell dinner with great food, even better company, and a toast to an unforgettable adventure.
Meals: B, D
It's been such a wonderful adventure and we hate to say goodbye! After breakfast, you will be picked up at the hotel by a private driver who will take you to the airport for your departing flight.

We are The Nomadic Network, a small-group tour company for people who want to travel, not just vacation.
We bring curious travelers together to experience the world in a way that feels personal, meaningful, and connected to the places we visit. That might mean sharing a meal with a local family, learning from an artisan, exploring with someone who calls the destination home, or lingering over dinner with people who were strangers just days ago.
Our journeys blend the places you came to see with experiences that take you deeper into local life. We work with incredible local partners, choose quality and comfort where they matter, and create the right mix of exploration, connection, adventure, and downtime.
And perhaps our favorite part? The people. Our travelers often arrive as strangers and leave with new friendships alongside some pretty incredible memories.
Come travel with us. You just might find your people. ❤️
